Oak Hill "Star" Employees
July 2008
Karen Ross, RNBC (Registered Nurse, Board Certified)
Karen joined Oak Hill Hospital as a nurse in 1994, working on the fifth floor telemetry and the third floor Medical Surgical Unit and now in MCCU (Medical Critical Care Unit). Karen serves as a staff nurse, filling in for the charge nurse when necessary. She views her job as that of assessing and evaluating patients and providing direct patient care. She educates patients and families related to the plan of care and try, try, try to help in any way I can.
Karens nomination came directly from a medical critical care unit who said, I have occasion to be treated at Oak Hill Hospital for complicated medical procedures. I recently spent three days with the staff in MCCU. My admiration for the professionalism of each and every one of the personnel in the unit is extremely high. He particularly singled out Karen for all of the extra courtesies that she had provided. Karen kept in contact with the patients wife and kept her abreast of his condition, which gave everyone in my family great peace of mind. In his nomination the patient went on to say, Karens strong arm and gentle guidance encouraged me every step of the way
with Karen I felt that I was in the hands of one of Gods angels. For Karens part she feels that, knowing each day Im surrounded by competent and caring coworkers and that everyone associated with Oak Hill Hospital plays a vital role in patient care and compassion is the best thing I like about Oak Hill Hospital.
Karen and her husband Tom live in Spring Hill. She has a daughter, Mary, 22 and a son, T.R., 19.
Stephen Bock, Patient Transporter/EMT
Stephen joined Oak Hill Hospital in October of 2006 where he has been a patient transporter assisting patients to their diagnostic exams. Stephens nomination came from a staff nurse who recalled a particular incident where Stephen was transporting a patient from the fifth floor to a procedure. While riding in the elevator he recognized that the patient was in distress. He immediately stopped the elevator and brought the patient to the second floor. The patient was eventually admitted to the intensive care unit. Stephen did a great job in recognizing the distress and acting on it! Stephen enjoys the friendly work environment and the great people that he works with. He moved to Spring Hill from St. Louis, Missouri. His mom, Donna Bock, and his dad, Kevin Bock, both work in the HCA system. Donna works at Oak Hill Hospital and Kevin works at Regional Medical Center-Bayonet Point.

Michelles nomination came from a patient who complimented her for her professionalism and for being so kind and courteous. She explained the reason for compression and worked with me during the exam. She made an always nervous time very comforting. Michelle says that her job provides a schedule that allows her to balance work and family. It allows me to make a difference in the lives of the people I meet every day! Michelle lives in Homosassa. Her immediate family is quite extensive.
